Ogilvy: From Pretty Good to the Great Aussie Hope

It's funny how Geoff Ogilvy went from "solid player that found a way to win a brutal US Open" to "the only guy in the universe that can beat Tiger this week" just by ending Tiger's consecutive wins streak. But, it has happened.

As the man who most recently ended Tiger's winning streak with a victory at the CA Championship in Doral, Ogilvy already knows how to trump the favourite. Having also finished runner-up in Houston at the weekend, the former US Open champion brings current form to Augusta as well as a major champion's strength of mind.

In only his third Masters appearance, Ogilvy, for all his Scottish ties, would dearly love to become the first Australian golfer to win the Masters.
More pressure? Why not?
Ogilvy, in his third Masters, is the form player besides Woods, finishing first and second in his past two starts. He has proven he can beat Woods, finishing two shots ahead to win the World Golf Championships in Florida last month, and he knows what it takes to win a major following his 2006 US Open triumph.
Would anyone be talking Ogilvy if he hadn't found a way to beat Woods at the CA Championship, even with the second place at Houston? Probably not. But, now he is the hope for the Aussies to finally win a Masters title. Adam Scott is off the hook because of his illness last weekend.
