News Media Bias RE: Els

The American and British golf media has been tearing Ernie Els to shreds for the past few months thanks to collapses all over the world in four events that I can think of off the top of my head. We have even joined in on the fun and questioned Els' commitment to his 3 year plan to become #1 in the world - now almost a statistical impossibility.

The opening paragraphs from IOL's Indian Masters Els game story are very complimentary of his 6th place finish in a light field and his collapse at the Dubai Desert Classic. (Though the third paragraph does remind the reader of it.)

Two tournaments and two top 10 finishes to start the season have buoyed Ernie Els as he switches his focus to the United States in preparation for The Masters at Augusta in April.

The world No 4 recovered from a horror nine at the 18th in his first round at the inaugural Indian Masters to end tied sixth, signaling that he is finding form but still has some aspects of his game to iron out.
The piece is riddled with spelling, grammar, and factual errors but you get the idea. He is getting a bit of a pass on his recent chokes. Top 10s are not good enough when you wiz away 4 tournaments in 4 months.
