PGA Tour Course Rankings 2007

You can check them out here, but we summarize the highlights. It's no surprise that the major championship venues are 4 of the top 5 most difficult. Firestone crept in at #4, just ahead of Car-nice-tie. And, of course, Oakmont was number one. Throw a party in Far Hills!

Some more interesting findings in the rankings are:
Bay Hill (Arnold Palmer Invitational) was #7. Why? Because par was reduced by two shots for this year. Otherwise, playing to an average of just over 72, the course would be middle of the road.

Quail Hollow (Wachovia Championship) was #11. Seems like it should be a lot higher on the list, right? At least it was ahead of Sawgrass.

Sawgrass was at #12. For the host course of the fifth major, it is pretty weak sauce compared to the other major venues. I can sense Tim Finchem placing a call to Rees Jones or Tom Fazio right now.

Torrey Pines South at #14. This is only interesting because it is in contrast with Torrey Pines North - the easiest course on Tour all year.

TPC Sugarloaf (AT&T Classic) comes in at #28. One would think that with the assault on par it faces every year that it would be much closer to TP North.

East Lake came in at #49. This is an anomaly considering the bad conditions and drought this summer in the ATL.
