Brutal Scoring Conditions

Is it just me, or has there been a serious trend this year toward producing scoring conditions that are downright brutal? The Florida Swing on the PGA Tour was uncharacteristically difficult this year and that trend is continuing so far at the Shell Houston Open.

It's even happening on the LPGA Tour. Aside from the traditionally loose scoring at Superstition Mountain, low scores have been pretty hard to come by for the ladies. The Kraft Nabisco is playing like the Women's US Open this week as a tricked out Mission Hills has Augusta-like greens, added length, and overseeded and deep rough. What has gotten into the minds of tournament organizers? Do they really hate birdies that much?!
