Olazabal Offered the 2010 Ryder Cup Captaincy

Just coming off of the presses in the last 45 minutes from the Daily Mail.

Twice Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal has been offered the captaincy of Europe's Ryder Cup team at Celtic Manor in 2010.

The Spaniard, playing in just his third event at Augusta after a seven-month lay-off owing to illness, was approached recently by tournament players' committee chairman Thomas Bjorn, and has promised an answer by July.

The news will come as a severe blow to supporters of Sandy Lyle, who had been hoping that he would get the nod, with Ian Woosnam as vice-captain.

Far more probable is an all-Spanish ticket for the first-ever Ryder Cup in Wales, with Miguel Angel Jimenez as Ollie's No 2.

First time I read "probable" as "profitable" and laughed. Good thing I read it again. This is a huge blow to the crowd that was pulling for Sandy Lyle to get the nod. It appears he is playing PO'd at the Masters right now - had a good early start. Meanwhile, those who were pulling for Monty to somehow get the nomination by 2010, more likely 2012, will probably have a lot to say in the press in the coming days. Since Monty is at home "washing his cars," he may not know this yet. SHHHH!!!!
