Morgan Pressel...ah, the Memories! Huh?

Bubba Watson is being railed in the media and by pros - in private - for his Steve Elkington incident last week. He is being particularly criticized for acting like a know-it-all and a veteran when he has been around less than 3 full seasons. By comparison (ah, the segway), Morgan Pressel seemingly has had a much fuller and longer career.

She has 55 starts in the past 3 seasons. In those starts, she has 1 win, 4 other medal podium finishes, and a total of 19 top 10 finishes. Overall, very solid performance. Obviously, I am not including her very successful amateur career in the following observation, but humor me.

Isn't Morgan Pressel a little young to be approached by the Golf Channel for a two part interview talking about her career and what has made her a champion? With one pro victory (albeit a record setting one)? Perhaps Lorena Ochoa would have been a better person for said topic?

Don't get me wrong, Pressel has a very bright future ahead of her. But, has she cemented herself as someone that falls under the category of "champion" to the point that she merits that kind of coverage? I'm not so sure of that. It's great PR for the LPGA Tour, though.

Gag...gag. I forget the golf writer(Seth Soffian of the Ft. Myers News-Press I think) before the 2007 season started that insisted Morgan should have been 2006 ROY. Seon Hwa Lee won the award, maybe the LPGA would be wiser to wait out the ADT before crowning ROY otherwise it would have Granada. Lee has won more tournaments, more money, beats Morgan in every stat category but majors. Oh well...

Once Jee Young Lee gets her first official win on the LPGA (she won in Korea), she's moving ahead of Morgan in my Young Gun rankings, unless Morgan improves a great deal. Jelly's been outplaying her since last summer....

That said, I can understand how the Golf Channel feels it needs to focus on Americans, and she is the defending champion. I'm glad the tournament organizers put Christina Kim and Stacy Prammanasudh in the prime-time pairings--good supplements to the Blonde Brigade.
