Ernie Relents to Critics, Will Pay WGC Match Play

Ernie Els had listed on his website that he did not intend to make his US PGA Tour debut until the Honda at the end of February. Then he decided to choke away the Dubai Desert Classic, which prompted calls from critics that Els is a money-grubbing coward who will never complete his three year plan to regain the top spot in the world. Perhaps that had a reason to do with his change of heart to decide to play in the WGC Accenture Match Play after all.

Of course, Els isn't going to tell anyone that he is a little peeve about choking and being called out for it, so here's a bland paragraph of some interest explaining Els' timeline for the decision.

[H]is agents began asking about room reservations earlier this week, and tournament director Michael Garten said today that the South African has officially entered.
