PGA Tour Q-School Update

Three players in particular have caught my eye halfway through the tournament.

Frank Lickliter II (not Junior, darn it) is simply crushing the field and the courses at the PGA Tour Q-School. As of time of this entry, Frank is -23 through 13 holes in his third round. Barring some kind of massive catastrophe - but not the kind Nick Saban references - Lickliter will be on the PGA Tour next year. Golfweek chronicles his run through the first two days.

Tommy Gainey of Big Break fame is quickly moving up the ranks to a much more secure spot on the leaderboard in round 3. He is in solo third position through 15 holes of round three. That may be eight shots back of Lickliter, but it is a very safe position.

Colt Knost continues to struggle and it is looking more and more like he will have to turn to the Nationwide Tour for status next year. It makes one question whether or not he made the right decision by turning professional after his US Am and Am Pub Links victories over the summer. I know he needed the money, but still. Dallas Morning News reports on his struggles.

More updates as they are merited, but you can check out live scoring over at PGATour.com.
