Gretzky Get to Host, Too...on the N'Wide Tour

Justin Timberlake gets his own event in Vegas. Now, the greatest hockey player to ever live has his own Nationwide Tour event - interestingly enough in Canada.

From the release:

The Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic will be held June 23-29 at The Georgian Bay Club and the Raven Golf Club at Lora Bay, located on the shores of expansive Georgian Bay, 150 km northwest of Toronto. The 160 professionals will vie for one of the Tour’s largest purses, $800,099 (U.S) over 72 holes of stroke-play competition.
Sure, why not. Quite frankly, I'm surprised that Cristie Kerr did not try to lure the Great One to host an LPGA Tour event - especially given the LPGA's penchant for having events staged outside of the US. I do not know that this event will get special attention because of Gretzky's involvement, but it is interesting that the N'Wide Tour has grown to the point that a celebrity would willingly host an event on its schedule...even if attendance is still very low.
