Nobby to Q-School

Frank Nobilo may be giving up his spot in the broadcast studio and booth to take it back to the course. The AP is reporting that Nobilo will enter the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament this year. He will be exempted into stage two because of his status as a former champion on Tour. Nobilo, winner of the '97 Greensboro Classic, has been sidelined since 2003 with a serious back injury.

I've enjoyed Nobilo as a commentator on TGC. He brings a lot to the telecasts, is a capable analyst, and seems like a delightful guy. But like I talked about in my post last week about Lee Trevino's retirement, Nobilo can't keep himself from competing. And that's a good thing. Best of luck, Frank.

UPDATE: Nobilo denied that he was actually entering the Qualifying Tournament. The AP got it wrong. Still, if you ever change your mind, Frank, you have my support.
