Are You Shutting It Down?
Phil's done for the year. Tiger's long done. (Except for the President's Cup for both.) I've found myself not thinking too much about golf because of the Tour Championship's finale. No offense to any of the other tours around the world which will still have some great golf through November, but the end of the PGA Tour season usually marks the end of the golf year. Now, with the FedEx Cup, the Tour Championship ends the season two months earlier than I'm accustomed. That means that I have largely checked out for the PGA Tour season.
Don't get me wrong. I watched some of the British Masters. I even caught some of the Turning Stone event. But, I only did that because I had nothing to do late at night and the Golf Channel was broadcasting replays. I'm someone who is supposed to keep track of this stuff and I can say with confidence that I feel like I'm going through the motions with the golf world this week.
Certainly, next week will captivate me. The President's Cup should be a lot of fun. But, at least for one week, I'm more committed to watching the Green Bay Packers on Sunday than the top 30 and below plus 3500 friends in New York.
