Skip Bayless, Please Shut Up

Skip Bayless has a track record for writing and saying things just for the sake of trying to get a rise out of people. It has caused him to move from job to job over the course of his life because he has a disregard for facts, sanity, and all of the things that make a reporter and commentator valuable.

He's at it again. Today, on ESPN's largely unwatchable 1st and 10 program, the topic came up of Woods revealing photos of his daughter Sam to the media. The other commentator - the very sane and likeable Doug Gottlieb - said that Woods was smart to do so in order to keep his family safe and prevent members of the paparazzi from chasing him and potentially endangering his wife and daughter.

Bayless was determined to say something stupid, though. He said Woods' motivation was not what Gottlieb suggested. Rather, Bayless claimed that Woods was so calculated that he revealed these photos in an attempt to create an excuse as to why he didn't win the US Open at Oakmont.

...really? That's the best you can do? Especially when Woods said in his remarks after the round that he had no excuses, Angel earned it, and other gracious compliments to the victor.

The stupidity that comes out of many commentators' mouths is simply astounding, but this one was pretty special. So, I'd just like to take an opportunity to tell Skip Bayless and other blowhards to just stop talking about golf. We're better off without you.
