If They Could All Be Like Memorial
I have to apologize for the lack of entries in the last few weeks or so. We've been working hard here at GNN to improve the site with some new media player tools and giving you better access to our shows. As always, we appreciate your feedback on everything at GNN, so don't hesitate to email us. You can email me at ryan@thegolfnewsnet.com.
Now, onto the point of this entry. I'm watching the final round at Muirfield Village in the Memorial and I'm really enjoying it. These players were given the chance to play pick, clean, and place golf after rain passed through the area this week. They are using it to full advantage in combination with almost flawless greens, benign weather conditions, and receptive greens. That's exactly what should happen given the conditions and it is great to see.
It is days like these that make you see how great the FedEx Cup could be for the game if it was working to its full extent. Tiger, Phil (who WD'd and seems to be ok), Vijay, and the whole gang are in the field for an event that is not a WGC, or a major. Sure, it's an invitational - Jack's invitational - but it is not an event that has a purse much greater than your average Tour event. Sometimes, it really has nothing to do about money. Usually that conversation is reserved for the major championships, but the Memorial proves that - under the right conditions - a non-major can enter that conversation.
