This Kid is a PLAYER
I really like this Sean O'Hair kid. (Kid? He's my age.) He showed a lot of moxey today in the third round at Sawgrass. Playing the final three holes in nine shots was a remarkable achievement and showed me this guy has the guts required to win the Players Championship. More impressive to me, though, was his demeanor in his post-round interview with Bob Costas on TV. He mentioned to Costas that his approach tomorrow will be to enjoy the round and his chance to play with Phil Mickelson. He said, too, that it's just golf and that he would not let the situation get to him too much.
Johnny Miller didn't seem to like that. He said afterward that Sean should take this moment very seriously or otherwise he will not win tomorrow. Who's to say what works for Sean O'Hair? I think this approach will work for him, even if it doesn't tomorrow. His father treated golf as something that was not supposed to be fun and made Sean's life pretty miserable for his own gain. In an effort to get away from his father and that perspective, the best way for Sean to move forward and succeed is to just enjoy the God-given talent he has for golf and play well. I think that he'll do that on Sunday and win a lot more fans in the process.
